Punjab ministers criticises Das Munshi on Sanjay Dutt case

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Tikshan Sud today criticised Union Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dass Munshi for "denigrating the judiciary" by raising "a question mark on the judgment of the TADA Court in the case of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt".

In a statement issued here, Mr Sud said that by questioning the judgment of the Court, Mr Munshi had tried to evoke public opinion against the judicial system of the country. He said that while the hand Congress was trying to distance itself from the statement of Mr Munshi , who was repeatedly claiming that he stood by his statement.

He said that this implied that Minister was issuing the statement of on behalf of Union Cabinet. He asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to either sack Mr Munshi from the Cabinet.

The Minister, who belongs to the BJP said that on the question of security of the country and terrorist attacks, emotions should not be allowed to prevail.

Shiv Sena files nomination for Jamshedpur bypoll

Jamshedpur, Aug 3 (UNI) With the issuing of notification by the returning officer-cum-deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum district N M Kulkarni, the electioneering for Jamshedpur Lok Sabha bypoll began today. Mr Kulkarni said Shiv Sena candidate B P Singh was the first to file nomination papers. While bypoll slated for August 29, the counting is on August 31. Altogether 13,96,224 voters, including 7,31,788 males and 6,63,969 females and 467 auxillary electors, would cast vote. Mr Kulkarni said.....

Ronga is new J

Srinagar, Aug 3 (UNI) Senior advocate Nazir Ahmad Ronga was elected president of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association after he defeated his nearest rival advocate Mohammad Shafi Reshi. Mr Ronga scored 238 votes against Reshi who got 97 votes while Majid Jehangir scored 69 votes. Ronga defeated Majid Jehangir and Muhammad Shafi Reshi who got 69 and 97 votes respectively. Ronga secured 238 votes out of 404 polled. Mr Ronga replaced advocate Mian.....

Seasonal ailments in Chhattisgarh district

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Aug 3 (UNI) At least three people have died and more than 750 are suffering from seasonal ailments in this district. ''Diarrhoea, dysentery and viral fever are rampant in Masturi and Bilha blocks. The Health Department has received information of the spread of diseases in about 30 villages,'' District Chief Medical and Health Officer Rajeev Ratan Tiwari told UNI. Medical teams were sent to the affected areas for medical camps set up at 17.....
