Pay Rs 50,000 to a customer, DCPF to Maruti Udyog in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 3(UNI) The Divisional Consumer Protection Forum (DCPF) here has directed Maruti Udyog Limited to pay Rs 50,000 to a customer for faulty service.

The forum comprising President, Rashid Ahmed Lone (District and Sessions Judge) M I Kirmani and Ms Amina Farooqi in a significant judgement directed Maruti Udyog Limited through Highland Motors, Sonawar, Srinagar, to pay an amount of Rs 50,000 to Dr Mushtaq Ahmad.

Dr Ahmad has filed complaint against Maruti Udyog for deficiency of Service.

The forum further directed Maruti Udyog to pay Rs 2,000 as litigation charges to Dr Ahmad.

In another decision on a complaint filed by Malik Abdul Qayoum, the forum directed M/S K S Enterprises, Dalgate, to return an amount of Rs 14,700 as cost of mobile to him with 9 per cent interest from the date of the deposit of the mobile set with the company, besides an amount of 10,000 as compensation and Rs 2000 as litigation charges.

Irregularities in MDM programme unearthed.

Sambalpur, Aug 3 (UNI) Bargarh district collector Harihara Panigrahi has ordered a Social Welfare Officer (SWO) to deposit Rs 75,000 with the Orissa government for his involvement in the mid day Meal(MDM) scam. Mr Panigrahi ordered this after detecting anomalies of nearly Rs two crore in the MDM programme in the district and fixed responsibility on the programme-in-charge. Three ULFA cadres held, explosives seized

Guwahati, Aug 3 (UNI) Three ULFA rebels were arrested from different hideouts here late last night, police informed today. One Dibjyoti Baruah (23) was arrested from Santipur area of the city. Police said 25 detonators, four packets of liquid explosive gel, two bundles of fuse wire and some flexible wire were recovered from him.
