No threat to Modi government in Gujarat: BJP

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) The BJP today ridiculed reports that dissidents in the party in Gujarat were increasing day by day and threatening the Narendra Modi government.

''I would like to put all such rumours at rest. There is no threat to Modi Government and these dissidents are not worth giving any attention,'' party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said, when his attention was drawn to a meeting of three dissident leaders, including former Gujarat chief Minister Keshu Bhai Patel.

''The BJP has been getting 45 to 52 per cent votes in all the elections of the state since 1991 and we are sure the percentage will increase this time,'' he said.

When pointed out that the BJP had suspended some Gujarat MLAs for anti-party activities in the past and what action it proposed to take against the dissident leaders who held a meeting yesterday, he said the party president had already sent the ''right signals'' to dissidents saying that indiscipline of any kind would be tolerated in the party.

''I will merely say that reports of any threat to the BJP Government in Gujarat are baseless,'' he added.

Mr Javadekar also scotched all rumour over the transition of leadership from JD(S) to BJP in Karnataka and said the party was confident that Mr Yedurappa would become Chief Minister on October 3.
