Natrang to organize international theatre festival in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 3 (UNI) The Natrang theatre group, which is celebrating its silver jubilee has announced to organise an International Theater Festival in Jammu next year.

The group's director Balwan Thakur, while interacting with mediapersons at Natrang office, said the successful experiment to play 17 plays in 15 days from July 18 to August 1 has inspired us to organize the mega event next year before May.

''Our 15 days Natrang's Silver Jubilee Theatre Festival at Abhinav Theatre, which concluded on August 1, has created a history in the country,'' he said, adding over 100 artists participated in the festival.

Mr Thakur said the event was organized in collaboration with the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and other establishments and organization. A single theatre group performing 17 plays in just 15 days reamins unheard of, he added.

Since its inception, the Natrang group has remained a source of inspiration for artists aspiring to perform on stage and whosoever came in contact with the theatre group became a part and parcel of the same club with dedication and devotion, he said.

On the concluding day two plays 'Suno Ek Kahani' in Dogri and 'Girgit' in Hindi were staged here at Abhinav Theatre.

''No play can become successful without the efforts of members of the entire team, because it is not a single man's show. For the artists it has always been a new performance even if the they have performed the same play umpteen times.
