Modi stresses need for Emergency Medical Care System

Rajkot, Aug 3 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Mininster Narendra Modi has stressed the need to develop an Emergency Medical Care System in the state by providing various levels of care to the trauma and other emergency patients.

Addressing people last night at Hemu Gadhavi Auditorium after the inauguration of N M Virani Wockhardt Hospital here, the first comprehensive Super Speciality Hospital in Saurashtra, Mr Modi expressed hope that the objective will be achieved soon by establishing a public/private partnership to develop the proposed system. The state government was planning to set up a state-wide network by establishing Emergency Medical Care Response Service, he said and added state would also set up tele-communication facilities for the purpose.

Earlier, Gujarat CM has laid the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Public Health, a project worth Rs 140 crore, in Gandhinagar yesterday.

The Chief Minister has said due to incredible increase in number of vehicles in Gujarat and number of fatalities as a result of automobile accidents could be reduced by establishing pre-hospital care to the injured victims. He said pre-hospital care and organised system would play a crucial role in saving the lives of critical patients.

The Chief Minister claimed that due to the cleanliness drive (Nirmal Gujarat) launched in the state, epidemics have reduced by 30 per cent as compared to last June-July 2006.

Threat call to Union Heavy Industries' Minister

Agartala, Aug 3: Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee today condemned the anonymous tele-threat to Union Heavy Industries Minister Santosh Mohan Deb from Tripura. In a statement here, the Congress stated that an anonymous phone call from Tripura was received at the official residence at Delhi of Mr Deb by one of his house-keeping staff. The anonymous caller threatened the minister of dire consequences if he came to Tripura. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged at Parliament.....

Couple burnt to death

Kancheepuram, Aug 3 (UNI) A couple was burnt to death in a stove burst incident at Thiruvanaikoil village in this district of Tamil Nadu, last night. Police said the mishap occurred when Chinnaponnu (30) lit the stove for cooking. Hearing the cries of his wife, Shankar (33), a coolie, rushed to her help and in the process he was also injured. Though the couple was rushed to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital in a critical condition,.....

HC asks govt to submit status report on Ambedkar stadium

Lucknow, Aug 3 (UNI) The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has deferred the hearing in the Ambedkar Sports Stadium case till August 27 and sought a report from the state government on its current status within three weeks. A bench comprising Justice Pradeep Kant and Justice Devi Prasad Singh had asked principal secretary, sports, Sudhir Kumar about the upkeep of stadium's swimming poll and cricket ground, but he could give no specific reply. The bench said.....
