Modi gears up for his final show at Mehsana

Palanpur, Aug 3: Mehsana is all set to celebrate the 61st Independence Day in a grand way in Gujarat.

It is for the first time that the celebrations are being held in Chief Minister Narendra Modi's home turf.

For Modi, this Independance fete would be the mega final of his tenure just before the state assembly polls. He has been organising for the past four years I-Day fetes at Patan, Anand, Himatnagar and Dahod.

The Mehsana celebration for Modi comes in the last year of his handling the state stewardship and he would in all probability leave no stone unturned to showcase his achievements.

The two-week-long celebrations which commenced with a drama 'Laxmi Ayi Agne' this evening, focussing on 'Save the Girl Child', which was staged by the artistes of the Shree Theater, Ahmedabad and directed by well known Gujarati stage play director Jayshriben Parikh from Ahmedabad.

According to District Collector Ajay Bhadu the 14-day-long celebration which had begun at Sagar Dairy's hall will last up to 12th of this month. Besides flag hoisting at Police ground, the Chief Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Dharoi's canal's branch extension at Vijapur. About 500 miscellaneous programmes highlighting the development work in the state will be the main attraction of the programmes. Mr Modi will have a busy schedule both on 14th and 15th, Mr Bhadu said.

A grand cycle rally is being arranged on female foeticide. As many as 500 school girls and boys will participate in the rally.

A dance drama based on the events beginning from 1857 will mainly cover the sacrifice of the martyrs including Jhansi Laxamibai, Bhagatsingh, Subhash Chandra Bose and others would be staged.

Parsvnath to develop Group Housing at Gujarat
