Meghalaya DIG Rynjah passes away

Shillong, Aug 3: Meghalaya Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Aibuit Singh Rynjah died late last night after a prolonged illness.
Mr Rynjah died at Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) Hospital in Asom while undergoing medical treatment following a stroke, official sources said here today.

He will be laid to rest tomorrow.

Mr Rynjah served as DSP in 1982 and was Additional SP and SP of Nongstoin, Jowai, Shillong at different stages of his career. Later, he held the post of SP, Special Branch and subsequently promoted to DIG, Eastern Range.

Meanwhile, the state police department have expressed grief over the sudden demise of Mr Rynjah.

Australian aid of $330,000 for HIV/AIDS progs in NE

New Delhi, May 22: Australia announced an additional aid of 330,000 USD for the HIV/AIDS and drugs prevention programmes in Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram.
