Manmohan Singh leaves for Delhi after a day's visit to Bangalore

Bangalore, Aug 3 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was on a day's visit to the city to review the agricultural and financial scenario of Karnataka left for New Delhi this evening.

He was seen off by Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Rahman Khan and Union Minister of State for highways K H Muniyappa.

A Host of Civil and Military officials were also present.

Dr Singh arrived in the city in the morning in a special aircraft. Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar also accompanied the Prime Minister.

Dr Singh also addressed a meeting of party workers. Later he reviewed the progress made under the Vidharbha type of package and also agricultural situation besides the infrastructure sector.

WBJEE scam continues to plague medical colleges

Kumar Singh Roy, a resident of Sonarpur of south 24 Paraganas, took admission to North Bengal Medical College (NBMC) in first year of this session. The classes have been started.....

Officers in Jessica case acquitted by HC

New Delhi, Aug 3: The Delhi High Court today acquitted the police officers accused of misleading the investigations in Jessica Lal murder case to help prime accused Manu Sharma earn acquittal from the lower court. A bench comprising Justices R S Sodhi and P K Bhasin heard the arguments of additional solicitor general Gopal Subramanium, who asserted that the Special Investigation Team did not find criminality in the conduct of the policemen investigating the case in.....

Pay Rs 50,000 to a customer, DCPF to Maruti Udyog in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 3(UNI) The Divisional Consumer Protection Forum (DCPF) here has directed Maruti Udyog Limited to pay Rs 50,000 to a customer for faulty service. The forum comprising President, Rashid Ahmed Lone (District and Sessions Judge) M I Kirmani and Ms Amina Farooqi in a significant judgement directed Maruti Udyog Limited through Highland Motors, Sonawar, Srinagar, to pay an amount of Rs 50,000 to Dr Mushtaq Ahmad. Dr Ahmad has filed complaint against Maruti Udyog for deficiency.....
