Manipur journalists on stir for third day today

Imphal, Aug 3 (UNI) The Manipur media continued their sit-in-protest for the third consecutive day today at Keishampat here demanding non-interference in their activities.

On July 31, a bomb was placed at the office of a local newspaper at Imphal by suspected militants. The journalists under the aegis of All Manipur Working Journalists Union are protesting the incident.

Ministers, MLAs, representatives of various organisations have also joined in the stir.

The journalists were not able to work properly after a militant group threatened them of dire consequences if their press handout was not published. Ye another group threatened to attack journalists if that press release was published.

Ayappa Mission opposes permission for women to visit Sabarimala

Chennai, Aug 3 (UNI) The All World Sri Dharmasatha Ayyappa Mission today strongly condemned the Trivancore Devasam Board's (TDB) reported decision to admit women to offer worship to Lord Ayappa at Sabarimala. The Mission's founder Swami Nithyogi Rajamangalam told newspersons here that the move would spoil the sanctity of the hill shrine, besides paving way for other irregularities. Ministers to camp in flood-hit districts:Nitish

Patna, Aug 3 (UNI) Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his cabinet colleagues and special district magistrates today rushed to the flood-hit districts to monitor the relief work. Mr Kumar also left for an aerial survey of the affected areas this morning. Reviewing the situation in Motihari and Sitamarhi districts, he said the special DMs would assist the officiating DM in the relief work.
