Kotak Mahindra launches 'global emerging market fund'

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company (KMAMC) today announced the launch of Kotak Global Emerging Market Fund, a three year close-end equity scheme investing in emerging economies across the globe.

''The investment objective of the scheme is to provide long-term capital appreciation by investing in an overseas mutual fund scheme,'' said company Chief Strategist Alroy Lobo.

KMAMC has identified Luxembourg-domiciled T Rowe Price Global Emerging Markets Equity Fund-SICAV (TGEMF) as the portfolio for the purpose.

TGEMF invests in equity and equity related securities of companies in the economically emerging countries of Latin America, Asia, Europe, Africa and the West Asia.

Mr Alroy Lobo said the centres of economic excellence are shifting to emerging markets like India, China, Russia, Mexico and Brazil.

The exit load during the liquidity window is nil.

The new fund offer, with minimum investment of Rs 5,000 and in multiple of Re one, closes on August 24, 2007.

Set up in 1998, Kotak Mutual Fund currently manages assets in excess of Rs 17,253.17 crore, contributed by over four lakh investors as on June 30, 2007.

E-payment made mandatory for corporates

Hyderabad, Aug 3 (UNI) The office of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Commissioner of Income Tax today informed that e-payment of Direct Taxes was mandatory for Corporate Tax payers and those coming under the purview of Sec 44 AB, with effect from January 1, 2008. At present, five banks - State Bank of India, UTI Bank, IDBI, HDFC Bank and Union Bank of India - were offering this facility for customers, an official press release here said......

Govt seeks early finalisation of India-SA preferential trade

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Ashwani Kumar has pleaded for the early finalisation of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between India and South Africa to give a fresh boost to bilateral economic ties. Mr Kumar raised the issue during a meeting with Ms Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Deputy President of South Africa on the margins of the India Calling Conference at Johannesburg held yesterday. Kiran Bedi resumes work after week-long 'protest'

New Delhi, Aug 3: Senior IPS officer Kiran Bedi today resumed duty after several days of 'protest leave' that followed after she was superseded by her junior Y S Dadwal for the post of Delhi Police Commissioner last week.
