Indo-Pak move to ease visa regulations

New Delhi, Aug 3: India and Pakistan today agreed to work towards a comprehensive visa regime that would give a fillip to the trade relations between the two neighbours.

''The proposals have already been submitted. But removal of restrictions on the number of places that can be visited can not be promised,'' Mr Syed Asif Shah told reporters here.

The Governments had already allowed a six-month multiple visa for the business community earlier this year.

Bilateral trade between the two countries has grown at an impressive rate in the past two years. Pakistan's exports to India increased to 323.19 million dollars in the year ended March 31, 2007 from 94.97 million dollars two years ago, while India's exports grew to one billion dollars from 521.05 million dollars.
