Himalyan Eagles trekking expedition flagged off

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) An eleven member trekking expedition team of the 25 Squadron Air Force, the premier transport squadron of the Indian Air Force popularly known as 'Himalayan Eagles', was flagged off as part of the ongoing platinum jubilee celebrations of the Indian Air Force.

While flagging off the expedition, Air Commodore Manmohan Sud, Air Officer Commanding (AOC), 12 Wing Air Force highlighted the need for promoting adventure and sports activities in the services.

The expedition team led by Wg Cdr BV Upadhyay took off for Leh and after two days of acclimatisation to high altitude the team will begin its trek from Padam valley to Lamayuru, situated near Leh in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir.

The approximate distance of 125 Kms through difficult hilly terrain of heights about 16,000 feet above sea level will be covered in about 10 days.

During the expedition, the team will also educate the local population on issues like environmental degradation in the pristine Himalayas and global warming.

Haryana: Spl markets for perishable crops

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) has decided to set up specialised markets at seven cities of the state having high-tech and ultra-modern infrastructure for longer preservation of perishable crops. A Board spokesman said that specialised markets for flowers would be set up at Gurgaon, Sonepat and Panchkula and fish markets at Bahadurgarh and Gurgaon. Two people electrocuted

Rohtak, Aug 3 (UNI) Two people, a man and a woman, died due to electrocution at Matan village in Jhajjar district yesterday. The deceased were identified as Krishan, a resident of Matan, and Mathoora, hailing from Bihar and working as a labourer at Matan.
