Haryana: Spl markets for perishable crops

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) has decided to set up specialised markets at seven cities of the state having high-tech and ultra-modern infrastructure for longer preservation of perishable crops.

A Board spokesman said that specialised markets for flowers would be set up at Gurgaon, Sonepat and Panchkula and fish markets at Bahadurgarh and Gurgaon.

Similarly, specialised market for timber would be set up at Jagadhri and apple market at Panchkula.

These markets would give further boost to the existing markets in these cities as they would provide better marketing facilities to the farmers.

It would also draw the farmers of the adjoining states to market their produce in these high-tech markets, he added.

He said new grain markets would be set up in Ambala Cantt, Pataudi, Narnaul, Jullana, Rasulpur (Sadhaura), Jakhal, Danoda Kalan.

Also, new vegetable markets would be established at Hisar, Rewari, Ambala City, Hansi and Babain.

New Grain and Vegetable Markets would be set up at Ganaur, Bhuna, Extension mandi Farukh Nagar and Babain and a New Fodder Market at Kaithal, he added.

Compensation of Rs 70 lakh paid till Aug. 2 for culled birds

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) A compensation of more than Rs 70 lakh has been paid to the owners of poultry farms till yesterday where culling took place for containing avian influenza in North and Eastern parts of Manipur. Mopping up operations were carried out yesterday also and 27 teams were deployed for operations. The total number of birds culled so far has reached 3,31,606, number of eggs destroyed 28,103 and feed destroyed, 25,242 kg......
