Haryana sets Rs 228 per capita expenditure on health

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) The Haryana Health Department has set Rs 228.72 as the projected per capita expenditure on health services during the current financial year and the total budget of the Department for 2007-08 is Rs 565 crore.

Stating this here today, an official spokesman said the plan budget of the department had been enhanced by 78 per cent in the first two years of the Hooda government.

There was a plan provision of Rs 45 crore in the year 2004-05, which was increased to Rs 75 crore in the year 2005-06 and further to Rs 80 crore in the year 2006-07, he said.

The Health Department, he said, was committed to provide quality health services and raise health status of the people in the state.

During 2006-07, four primary health centres had been upgraded to the level of community health centres, three primary health centers had been established and casualty services had been provided in General Hospital, Fatehabad, community health centers at Naraingarh and Kalka.

During 2007-08, two hospitals had been upgraded at Bahadurgarh and Dabwali. Also, two primary health centres have been upgraded as community health centers and six primary health centers have also been established.

He said that during the tenure of present Government, 10 health institutions had been set up in different places in the state.

He said while two trauma centers had been established at Sirsa and Karnal, three more trauma centers were under construction at Yamunanagar, Ambala and Rewari.

The proposal to set up trauma centers at Kurukshetra, Palwal and Bahadurgarh was under the consideration of Central Government, he added.

Compensation of Rs 70 lakh paid till Aug. 2 for culled birds

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) A compensation of more than Rs 70 lakh has been paid to the owners of poultry farms till yesterday where culling took place for containing avian influenza in North and Eastern parts of Manipur. Mopping up operations were carried out yesterday also and 27 teams were deployed for operations. The total number of birds culled so far has reached 3,31,606, number of eggs destroyed 28,103 and feed destroyed, 25,242 kg......
