General JJ Singh visits Kapurthala

Kapurthala, Aug 3 (UNI) Chief of Army Staff General JJ Singh accompanied by his wife Mrs Anupama Singh visited 5 Maratha Light Infantry here today.

Vajra Corps GOC Lt Gen Noble Thamburaj along with his wife Mrs Anita Thamburaj, Golden Arrow Division GOC Maj Gen Munish Sibal, accompanied by his wife, were also present during the visit of the General.

Gen Singh also addressed the troops and interacted with them during tea. Later, exchage of momentoes was also organised in the glittering ceremony.

It may be mentioned that Chief of Army Staff had commanded 5 Maratha Light Infantry way back from 1985-1987 and this is his third visit to the battalion during his present tenure.

UBI to open 11 more ATMs

Chennai, Aug 3 (UNI) Union Bank of India (UBI) proposes to set up 11 more ATM centres across the city. Boy falls into well, fighting for life

Ongole, Aug 3 (UNI) A five-year-old boy today fell into a 30-feet deep borewell that was being drilled at Botlaguduru village in Pamuru mandal of Prakasham district. RBI to roll out new Rs 2 coins

Mumbai, Aug 3 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today said it will shortly put into circulation new ferritic stainless steel coins of Rs 2, encrypted with the theme 'nritya mudra'. On one side, the coin will be divided into three portions with two horizontal lines where the centre portion bears the 'Lion Capitol' of Ashoka Pillar while the top portion will contain the word 'Yeejle' in Hindi and 'India' in English, bottom portion will.....
