FM radio channel launches novel HIV/AIDS awareness campaign

Chennai, Aug 3 (UNI) Popular Radio channel ''Radio Mirchi'', in association with an NGO, Heroes Project and Satyam Foundation, today launched a one-of-a-kind month long campaign ''HIV Pathi Therinjikko - AIDS Pathi Purinjikko'' (Know about HIV - Learn about AIDS''), involving film celebrities.

The campaign was conceived to dispel myths and misconceptions that prevail in the minds of the people, an official press release said here today.

The purpose of this unique initative, which witnesses the coming together of the corporate, NGO and the Tamil film industry, was to address some of these issues directly and provide the right answers to question.

Listeners could tune into 98.3 FM and clear their doubts on HIV/AIDS.

The highlight of the campaign was the celebrity quiz.

Begining August six, for two weeks everyday, a new question would be asked by a celebrity on HIV/AIDS, addressing the doubts of the people.

The answers would be invited through SMS and prizes for winners include T Shirts with HIV/AIDs messages and personally autographed by the respective celebrity.

The number of celebrities involved in the campaign are actors Kamal Hassan, Sarath Kumar, Radhika, Kushboo, Mahdavan, Goundamani, Revathi and Vivek.

Two IPS officers promoted as ADGP

Kohima, Aug 3 (UNI) The Nagaland government has ordered promotion of two senior IPS officers to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP). Pak's first shipment of cement to reach India by August-end

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) Pakistan Commerce Secretary Syed Asif Shah today said the first consignment of cement will arrive in India by the end of this month. Indian ships can now touch Pakistan shores

New Delhi, Aug 3: Indian ships will now be allowed to touch the Pakistani ports for unloading the cargos after a shipping protocol was signed between the two countries, Pakistan Commerce Secretary Syed Asif Shah said today.
