Expecting change in life with sex change surgery

Vellore, Aug 3 (UNI) Disheartened by continued social ostracisation, Simran, a eunuch, successfully underwent sex change surgery at the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital.

A team of doctors, led by Dr Srinivasan, performed the surgery yesterday, perhaps the first of its kind in the state.

The health condition of Simran was normal and she was recuperating in the hospital, doctors attending on her said.

The surgery, initially scheduled for July five, was postponed due to lack of facilities at the hospital. The response for the surgery was tremendous, with the hospital receiving as many as 12 applications.

Of them, eight were shortlisted as the remaining four tested positive for HIV. Simran and Bhanumathy were zeroed in from among the shortlisted eight, to be operated upon in the first round. While Simran underwent the surgery yesterday, Bhanumathy would come under the scalpel this evening.

Sriganganagar, Aug 3 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) has ordered a high-level investigation into security breach after a Pakistani national was caught with two packets of drugs at the Ganganagar district headquarters. Salim, 22, who hails from Chak 40 in Bahawalnagar district in Pakistan, was caught at Bhagsar border near Kesarisinghpur on Wednesday afternoon. Memorial at Kishore Kumar's college

Indore, Aug 3 (UNI) 'Pal pal dil ke pas, tum rehti ho...'
