Death toll due to gastroentertis rises to two

Gulbarga, Aug 3 (UNI) The death toll due to gastroentertis in Kakere village in the district has risen to two today with the death of a Gram Panchayat member.

The condition of seven persons was stated to be critical.

As many as 250 people developed vomiting sensation on August one due to drinking of contaminated water. A 12-year-old boy died yesterday and a 45-year-old Gram Panchayat member died today.

The condition of seven patients was said to be critical in various hospitals.

Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pande, confirming the death, told UNI that the dead ignored Doctor's advise and went back to their homes despite their condition being critical. The villagers consumed contaminated water which led to the spread of the epidemic.

Special medical teams had been rushed to the village to treat the patients.

BJP reviewing alliance with Sena

Bhopal, Aug 3 (UNI) BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde today said that review was underway to determine the future of the party's alliance with the Shiv Sena. ''First, the Sena supported Congress candidate Pratibha Patil in the recent presidential poll and is now bringing up (Union Agriculture Minister) Sharad Pawar's name for the Prime Minister's post,'' he told journalists here. Munde alleges scam in wheat import

Bhopal, Aug 3 (UNI) Alleging a Rs 1,400-crore scam in wheat import, BJP General Secretary and Kisan Andolan Convenor Gopinath Munde today demanded that the deal be cancelled and a high-level inquiry conducted. ''The Centre is importing 50 lakh metric tonnes this year at Rs 1,400 per quintal. The scam has placed Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in the dock.
