Couple burnt to death

Kancheepuram, Aug 3 (UNI) A couple was burnt to death in a stove burst incident at Thiruvanaikoil village in this district of Tamil Nadu, last night.

Police said the mishap occurred when Chinnaponnu (30) lit the stove for cooking. Hearing the cries of his wife, Shankar (33), a coolie, rushed to her help and in the process he was also injured.

Though the couple was rushed to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital in a critical condition, they succumbed to burns.

The couple is survived by their son Saravanan (8) and daughter Saranya (6).

BSF jawan found dead in pond

Krishnagar, Aug 3 (UNI) One BSF jawan was today found dead and floating in a pond outside the 36 battalion BSF camp in Kalyani. Preliminary reports show Shatpal Singh, BSF jawan, in a drunken state had walked over to the pond last night and drowned, police said today. The body has been sent to Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru hospital for post mortem. UNI.....

Four drowned in boat mishap in Motihari

Motihari, Aug 03 (UNI) Altogether four people were drowned when a boat capsized in a flooded lake near Badkabaunsha village under Chakiya police station in East Champaran district today. Official sources said the boat was ferrying 13 people of which nine swam to safety. Sources said the mishap occurred as the boat was overloaded. The victims were on way to Kathariya for collecting fodder. The bodies were being fished out, sources added. UNI.....
