CCA approves two key appointments

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Appointments has extended the tenure of Mr Sundeep Khanna, additional secretary in the ministry of social justice and empowerment till March 2008, according to an official statement issued today.

Meanwhile, Ms Renuka Viswanathan, secretary for coordinationa and public grievances in the cabinet secretariat, will hold additional charge as chairperson at the National Authority for Weapons Convention, the statement added.

Muzaffarnagar, Aug 3 (UNI) The Meerut-Haridwar National Highway has been closed till August 11 for security of 'Kanwariyas', who bring sacred ganga water from Haridwar for the 'jal abhishek' of lord Shiva every year. Police said today the vehicular traffic at Meerut-Roorkee, Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur and Panipat-Muzaffarnagar route had been diverted.
