BJP leader gets clean chit in suicide case

Kapurthala, Aug 3 (UNI) The district police has given clean chit to BJP district president Hira Lal Dhir from his alleged involvement in abetting a local resident to commit suicide.

The police has taken this step following an inquiry conducted by city DSP Sukhdev Singh Chhina on the role of Dhir in the suicide of Sukhdev Kumar, police officials here today said.

Police had registered a case under section 306 IPC against Dhir and a contractor for forcing a city youth to commit suicide, following recovery of suicide note from the pocket of the deceased.

Special markets to be set up for perishable crops in Haryana

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) has decided to set up specialised markets at seven cities of the state having high-tech and ultra-modern infrastructure for longer preservation of perishable crops. A Board spokesman said that specialised markets for flowers would be set up at Gurgaon, Sonepat and Panchkula and fish markets at Bahadurgarh and Gurgaon. Punjab PSUs to sign MoUs with state government

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) To ensure efficiency and accountability in the functioning of state Public Sector Undertakings (PSU), boards and corporations, the Managing Directors of these organisations or units would each sign Memorandum's of Understanding (MoU) with the Administrative Secretaries of the concerned departments. Shiv Sena files nomination for Jamshedpur bypoll

Jamshedpur, Aug 3 (UNI) With the issuing of notification by the returning officer-cum-deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum district N M Kulkarni, the electioneering for Jamshedpur Lok Sabha bypoll began today. Mr Kulkarni said Shiv Sena candidate B P Singh was the first to file nomination papers. While bypoll slated for August 29, the counting is on August 31. Altogether 13,96,224 voters, including 7,31,788 males and 6,63,969 females and 467 auxillary electors, would cast vote. Mr Kulkarni said.....
