14 quintals poppy husk seized, two arrested

Kapurthala, Aug 3 (UNI) The Bholath police today arrested two persons and recovered 14 quintal poppy husk from their possession.

Talking to mediapersons here SSP Rakesh Aggarwal said that a police party intercepted a truck and on search of the vehicle recovered 39 bags of poppy husk. He said the alleged accused during their preliminary interrogatioon confessed that they had bought the poppy husk from Gwalior, at Rs 10,500 per quintal and were to sell in different parts of Punjab at Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 per quintal .

The SSP said the truck in which the poppy husk was brought was bearing a fake registration number of Punjab and it was impounded.

The police has registered a case under the narcotics act against the two accused identified as Jand Singh of Dolewal village and Ajmer Singh of Indgarh village, both in Moga district.

Punjab ministers criticises Das Munshi on Sanjay Dutt case

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Tikshan Sud today criticised Union Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dass Munshi for "denigrating the judiciary" by raising "a question mark on the judgment of the TADA Court in the case of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt". Special markets to be set up for perishable crops in Haryana

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) has decided to set up specialised markets at seven cities of the state having high-tech and ultra-modern infrastructure for longer preservation of perishable crops. A Board spokesman said that specialised markets for flowers would be set up at Gurgaon, Sonepat and Panchkula and fish markets at Bahadurgarh and Gurgaon. Similarly, specialised market for timber would be set up at Jagadhri and apple market at.....

Punjab PSUs to sign MoUs with state government

Chandigarh, Aug 3 (UNI) To ensure efficiency and accountability in the functioning of state Public Sector Undertakings (PSU), boards and corporations, the Managing Directors of these organisations or units would each sign Memorandum's of Understanding (MoU) with the Administrative Secretaries of the concerned departments. A decision to this effect was taken by the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at a meeting of the Cabinet Sub Committee on disinvestment here today. Mr Badal.....
