AIADMK Councillors join DMK

Chennai, Aug 1 (UNI) Five AIADMK Councillors in Kancheepuram Municipality today quit the party and joined the ruling DMK in the presence of party President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

A party release here said the Councillors led by Kancheepuram Municipality Vice Chairman G Sambandam called on Mr Karunanidhi at DMK headquarters at Anna Arivalayam here and joined the party after presenting shawls to him.

Those who joined the party included Gomathi Kuttiraja, G Ravi, Kamarunniza Jaffar, S Balu and B Suresh, the release said.

Senior DMK leaders, including Arcot N Veerasamy, M K Stalin, T K S Elangovan and Kancheepuram district Secretary T M Anbarasan were present on the occasion, the release added.
