''During your tenure of 5 years as President, you have left an indelible imprint of your distinct style, erudition and scholarship.
While the youth and students saw you as an icon of present times, the academic and the scientific community developed fondness for you as a leader with a vision for India,'' Mr Krishna stated in a letter addressed to Dr Kalam.
''I understand from the press reports that you are planning to go back to teaching and academic activities. While wishing you all well for your post-retirement engagements, I do hope that you will continue to guide the nation in fulfilling your dream of creating a modern and egalitarian India,'' he added.
The Governor also expressed his gratitude to Dr Kalam for his guidance and support to him during the last 3 years.
Mr Krishna also congratulated Pratibha Patil on her becoming the President of India.
