Bangalore, Jul 24: To showcase the distinctive culture and heritage of the Kodava Community, the habitants of Kodagu, the small hilly district, the Karnataka Kodava Sahithya Academy will host a three-day 'World Kodava Meet-2007' in Madikeri from December 23.
Addressing newspersons here last night the Academy Chairperson Smt Ulliyada Daatu Poovaiah informed that over two-lakh Kodavas spread all over the world would converge during the world-meet.
Smt Poovaiah informed that during the three-day event, which is being held for the first time in the land of Generals and warriors, which had its distinctive culture including its unique Food, costume, festivals, language and its academic richness would be showcased. Exhibitions, seminars and sports and cultural events also planned during the occasion.
Kodagu, hailed as the Kashmir of South India, also contributed its might to the nation in all spheres especially to armed forces, sports, administration, education and polity.
