Foodgrain portrait of President Kalam

Indore, July 24: Students of Fine Arts stream in Indore's IPS Academy have bid farewell to President A P J Abdul Kalam by preparing his portrait with foodgrains.

The 1,188 sq feet size-portrait of Dr Kalam, who is retiring tomorrow, was prepared by 28 students, who began preparing it on July 22 at 1000 hours and completed it within 20 hours at 0600 hours the next day.

It took four quintal grains -- including wheat, rice and various pulses -- to prepare the portrait.

Fine Arts Department's Director Amit Ganju said students faced difficulty while preparing Dr Kalam's hair.

Shivangini Palta, who helped in preparing the portrait, said Dr Kalam is an ideal for youths.

He wants to take the country ahead in the path of foodgrain production. The foodgrain portrait was prepared to underline this message.

Above the portrait, it was written ''Vida (Good Bye), Missile Man of India''.
