'Transfer of power to be smooth in Karnataka'

New Delhi, July 20: BJP President Rajnath Singh today expressed the hope that the transfer of power in Karnataka would be smooth in September when the Janata Dal (Secular) is to hand over the power to the BJP.

In an informal chat with newspersons at the lunch hosted by NDA, the BJP President said that he had had discussions with Janata Dal (Secular) supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda ahead of the Presidential poll and 'there is no confusion.' "I will have one more round of discussions,'' he added.

To a question if the BJP would accept a change its leadership in view of complaints aired against Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Mr Singh noted that in a political party there will be umpteen candidates vying to occupy the top slot. However the BJP has no plans to effect any change. "We have projected him as our Chief Ministerial candidate and we will persist," he said.
