Dalmiya eligible to contest BCCI elections: HC

Kolkata, July 20 : The Calcutta High Court today stayed the expulsion of former Board President Jagmohan Dalmiya from the BCCI and found him eligible to contest any election of the BCCI or its affiliated units.

In its verdict, a single Judge bench of Justice Indira Banerjee said it has been held under the rule, (by which Mr Dalmiya had been expelled), was without jurisdiction because of non-registration of the rules.

The verdict further stated that the expulsion had been stayed and Mr Dalmiya can contest any election of any of the affiliated units of BCCI. The BCCI counsel tried to obtain a stay on the operation of the order but that was also refused.

Mr Dalmiya was expelled from the BCCI and banned from taking part in any election and from holding any post of its affilitated units.

Mr Dalmiya had challenged this decision in the court, the results of which came out today.
