Seven sentenced to 5 yrs imprisonment in fake currency note case

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, July 19 (UNI) Ad hoc district sessions judge V S Mudne today sentenced seven persons to five years rigorous imprisonment in a counterfeit currency note case.

The court also fined them Rs 5000 each or face an additional six months imprisonment.

Police had arrested ten persons for allegedly possessing 264 currency notes of Rs 500 denomination on June 23, 2003, after carrying out raids at several places in the city. The police had sent the notes for examination at the Security Press at Nashik, which found 263 notes to be counterfeit.

The court, however, aquitted three of the accused -- Shailesh Rajput, Anil Gunwani and Saeed Bin Chaush, all residents of Aurangabad.

Those sentenced include Hameed Pyare Babu, a resident of Mumbai and presently staying in the city, Shaikh Aslam Sharif, a resident of Bidar in Karnataka and presently staying in the city, and Shaikh Shaker Shaikh Abdul, Shaikh Salahuddin Shaikh Kamaluddin, Faqruddin Isaquddin, Baqar Ali Ashraf Ali and Shaikh Naser Hussain, all residents of Aurangabad.
