Raje expects something "major" to happen in prez poll result

Jaipur, July 19 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje feels that something ''major'' would happen in the presidential election results.

Ms Raje's observation came in response to a question about the impact of change in the third front's stand and participation of AIADMK in the Presidential polling today.

Whether she was expecting ''some miracle'' in the election results, the Chief Minister said there was nothing like that but at times there was were course of events which people did not anticipate.

''Did you people know that third front leaders will change their mind to let their MLAs and MPs free to participate in the polling,'' she observed.

Ms Raje was fully satisfied over the ruling BJP's performance in in the election and to garner votes for NDA supported nominee Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

She said that in Rajasthan it was her responsibility and she was happy that her party had performed very well the task entrusted upon it in the state.

State Industries Minister and Vice President Mr Shekhawat's son-in-law Narpat Singh Rajvi was also very optimistic over the prospects of his father-in-law becoming the President.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
