Mah Govt to conduct magisterial probe into collapse: Deshmukh

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh tonight announced that a magisterial probe will be conducted into the collapse of 'Lakshmi Chhaya' building at Borivali in the North West Mumbai.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Deshmukh said the state government will provide Rs 1 lakh each as compensation to the next of the kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

He said rescue is the first priority of the state government, as there are lot of people who are still trapped under the debris.

Mr Deshmukh appealed to the people to collaborate in the rescue operation.

He said action will be taken against the erring persons.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
