Mafia-turned legislator alleges conspiracy against him

Lucknow, July 19 (UNI) Controversial Rashtriya Parivartan Dal(RPD) leader and mafia-turned legislator D P Yadav has blamed conspiracy behind lodging of criminal case against him in connection with the attempted murder of a key witness in the Nitish Katara murder case.

Talking to mediapersons after voting in the Presidential polls here, Mr Yadav said a conspiracy has been hatched against him and his family members to implicate them in criminal cases.

'' We have nothing to do with the incident'', he stated.

Earlier, an FIR had been registered against Mr Yadav and some of his family members after a key witness in the Nitish Katara murder case was poisoned.

To another question, the RPD leader said that UPA candidate Pratibha Patil will win with a landslide margin in the Presidential polls.

Jaya appeals to Mamata to call off her fast

Chennai, Dec 27: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa has appealed to Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee to call off her fast, which entered 24th day today. A release from the AIADMK office tonight said, Ms Jayalalithaa had written a letter to Mamata Banerjee appealing her to call off the fast. Ms Jayalalithaa also telephoned her and urged her to call off the fast, the release added. A.....
