Farm machinery students in demand by tractor companies

Ludhiana, July 19 (UNI) A number of leading companies in the tractor and farm machinery manufacturing business are making a beeline to the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for recruiting agricultural engineers, who seem to be much in demand.

John Deere Farm Equipment and John Deere Technology Centre India, the group companies of global leader John Deere dealing in tractors, farm equipment, earth moving equipment and financial services visited College of Agricultural Engineering at the PAU campus here yesterday for in-campus interviews. The company selected three students of the College and offered jobs one year in advance as these selected candidates will be completing their degree in June next year.

Revealing this, Dr V R Sharma, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering, assured the visiting organisation every support for such initiatives and efforts for developing the skill set of candidates further to make them well prepared to get placed in the industry. Seeing the student's caliber, faculty strength and institutional infrastructure like labs and other facilities, John Deere showed good interest in joining hands for more industry-institution interactions.

A panel of four executives of the company from Pune had conducted a day long recruitment process comprising of written test, group discussion and personal interviews.

Besides John Deere, other companies like TAFE, Kirloskar, Mahindra abd Mahindra, New Holland Tractors, Claas India and Punjab Tractors Limited have also visited the PAU for on-campus interviews.

R&D chief from TAFE, Chennai is expected to visit college campus to have first hand information on infrastructure and other facilities in the college and interaction with faculty and students for future collaborations.

Dubai: Dodsal bags Dh1bln Takreer order

Dubai, Feb 21:  Engineering consultancy firm Dodsal has secured a one billion dirham engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co (Takreer) to execute the Ruwais Sulphur Handling Expansion (phase-III) project.The project is scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2009. ''The objective of the project is to increase the storage and processing capacity in order to handle the additional liquid sulphur that will be received from various Adnoc Group companies,''.....
