TVS to launch 2 new motorcycles by year end

New Delhi, July 9: Country's third largest two-wheeler major, TVS Motor Company, today said it aims to sell 15,000-20,000 Apache bikes per month and will launch two new motorcycles by the end of this year.

''We target to sell around 15,000 to 20,000 Apache bikes per month and we will come out with two more bikes by the end of this year,'' the company's Senior Vice President R Chandramouli told reporters here on the sidelines of its newly launched Apache RTR 160 priced at Rs 58,584 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

However, Mr Chandramouli did not disclosed the kind of segment its coming out with, but assured that ''it will be an all new bike and not a variant.'' He said out of the 15,000-20,000 Apaches, the company targets to sell around 10,000-12,000 Apache RTR per month.

The company sold around 1.53 million two-wheelers last year and targets to grow by atleast 30 per cent this year, he added.

TVS has three manufacturing plants at present, two in Karnataka and one in Himachal Pradesh, which has started production last month only.

Apart from the plants in the country, the company has a subsidiary plant in Indonesia also, where the production started last month with a capacity of 25,000 bikes per month.

Export of two-wheelers increase by 17 pc

New Delhi, Aug 12: Exports of two-wheelers have revved up in the last one year with exports jumping by 17 per cent in the last fiscal. Exports of motorcycles jumped by 23.4 per cent to 68,953 units in July 2007 in comparison to the corresponding period last year, while exports of scooters decreased by 39 per cent to 2,615 units in the said period, according to figures released by Society of Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM)......
