Temple authorities to issue Green Cards to donors

Srirangam, July 9 (UNI) The Board of Trustees of Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple, Srirangam, today decided to issue 'Green Cards' to generous donors for free Darshan without waiting in queues.

Talking to newspersons here, M Venkataraman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Temple said Green Cards would be issued to the Philanthropists, who had donated a minimum donation of Rs one lakh to the temple earlier and also for the present donors.

'e-ticketing' would also be introduced to the devotees shortly, he added.

Mr Venkataraman said the Board would also start an Engineering College and an Arts and Science College from the next academic year at the temple-land here. The wards of the temple staff and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment(HR&CE) staff would be given priority in admission, he added.

The Chairman said the colleges would be constructed with the donations from the Philanthropists and also from the temple funds.

The temple would also start a school for the mentally retarded children with hostel facilities, he added.

He said the authorities would soon take up restoration and cleaning work in the temple complex.
