TDB to discuss issue of women's entry into Sabarimala

Thiruvananthapuram, July 9 (UNI) Kerala Devaswom Minister G Sudhakaran has aksed the Travancore Devaswom Board, which administers temples in the southern districts of the state to make its stand clear on the issue of allowing women into the famed Sabarimala hill shrine.

The Minister wrote a letter to the Board in the view of a petition on issue which is slated to come up before the Supreme Court.

At present, entry in Sabarimala hill shrine is allowed only to women who have reached menopause and those who have not attained puberty.

A controversy arose after Kannada actress Jaimala disclosed that she had entered the temple in 1987 and touched the deity.

The TDB would meet here on July 13 to discuss the issue sources said.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
