Punjab Govt tie up with Ashok Leyland to open driving school

Chandigarh, JULY 9 (UNI) Punjab Transport Minister Mohan Lal today announced that the State Government would set up a driving training school at Kapurthala District in collaboration with Ashok Leyland.

The decision for the proposed driving training school was taken in a high level meeting held here under the chairmanship of the Transport Minister.

In the meeting it was decided that the infrastructure of the school would be provided by the Corporate House of Ashok Leyland on the pattern of their two driving schools already established at Namakkal (Chennai) and Burari ( Delhi).

The Minister said Punjab Government would provide 29 acre of land to the company on lease for this purpose.

He said that this state-of-art driving school would be affiliated with Punjab Technical University (PTU).

He further added that the school would also provide technical training in the fields of denting, painting, auto-mobile engine repairs to the unemployed youth with a view to enable them to avail employment opportunities in India and abroad particularly mid-east countries.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
