NCP opposes second liberation struggle

Thiruvananthapuram, July 9 (UNI) NCP will strongly oppose any ''second liberation struggle'', party state President K Muraleedharan said today.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said people had the freedom and the right to organise agitation against the 15-month misrule of the LDF government had ''disappointed the people''.

However, the struggle against the government would not be treated as the ''second liberation struggle'', he said, adding that ousting an elected government was not a good procedure. Instead, steps should be taken to force the government to correct its mistakes, he added.

Those who welcomed and appreciated the ''first liberation struggle'' had later agreed that it was wrong, he added.

Mr Muraleedharan said the NCP would oppose any move to commercialise education by misinterpreting the court orders. The government had already given a lot of relaxation in this regard to self financing professional college managements, he added.

Church leaders had warned that they would not hesitate to launch a ''second liberation struggle'' if the Churches were denied privileges, including in the education sector.

On the allegation that the CPI(M) party organ had accepted Rs two crore from lottery king S Martin and Rs one crore from LIS, a private financial firm, he demanded a CBI probe and a judicial inquiry into the Munnar eviction.
