'Iran slowing down uranium enrichment work'

Vienna, July 9: Iran has slowed the installation of centrifuge machines that enrich uranium for its controversial nuclear programme, the director of the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, said today.

Western powers recently condemned Tehran's expansion of enrichment work in defiance of UN demands, suspecting the programme is secretly aimed at producing atom bombs, and said they were mulling more sanctions against Tehran.

Moscow, May 21: US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said Iran is entitled to a peaceful nuclear programme, and also clarified that US has problem with the uranium enrichment which could lead to the production of nuclear weapons. In an interview to Russian NTV channel, Ms Rice said this question was before the IAEA which unfortunately remained unanswered from the Iranian government.
