Kohima, July 9: With United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) proving a handful, another outfit christened as 'Asom Lion Force' has been reportedly formed by some youths of all North Eastern States in Karbi Anglong district of Asom.
One Aniruddha Barphukan, a self-styled secretary of the new outfit, in a statement said the outfit had been formed to further strengthen the liberation movement in the North East.
Alleging that N E was a victim of security forces' excesses since independence, Barphukan said, ''we would like to live with dignity without being a slave of any force, keeping our head straight and without bowing down before any occupier.'' Barphukan demanded an immediate halt on all ''occupational and allied activities'' by the government and called upon the people to boycott all Indian functions and honour their own culture.
