Bhopal, July 8: A new world record was created when 77 people got together at St Mary Church in the state capital last evening to produce a handwritten copy of the sacred Bible, New Testament, within 123 minutes.
Bhopal-based Sunil Joseph, who planned the programme, said 77 people, between 11-75 years of age, produced the handwritten copy of the sacred Bible, New Testament, in scheduled time in the presence of representatives of various churches.
Archbishop Pascal Topno and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ved Prakash were also present.
The programme was organised to thank people for voting to include the Taj Mahal in the list of seven wonders and to commemorate the rare coincidence that took place on July 7, 2007 (07/07/07).
On the occasion, a special prayer was organised to include the Taj Mahal among list of seven wonders.
Mr Joseph said photographs and video recording of the programme and certificates from two gazetted officers would be sent to the Limca Book of World Record and the Guinness Book of World Records.
An employee of the National Informatics Centre's Bhopal office, Mr Joseph said a handwritten copy of Quran, Bible and Valmiki Ramayan would be produced in Urdu, English and Sanskrit respectively by members of the three communities on December 16.
Mr Joseph said he had created set seven world records, by copying the sacred Bible, New Testament, in his handwriting in a span of just 123 days in 2005.
He said he wrote the Bible, with its 7,957 verses, each written on a single page, and written over 16,000 pages. Since the Bible was written on butter paper, it could be read in mirror also.
