Seven more people grilled by CBI in Tapasi case

Kolkata, Jul 5: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted prolonged grilling of seven more people, including the Deputy General Manager of West Bengal Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBIDC), in connection with the Tapasi Malik murder case.

CBI had earlier sent notice to all the seven summoning them to to its Salt Lake office for interrogation in connection with the crime that took place at Singur in December last year.

The Central agency had already arrested Singur Zonal Committee Secretary of the CPI(M) Suhrid Dutta and Dibakar Malik, a CPI(M) supporter.

Those who underwent the CBI grilling today were WBIDC Deputy General Manager Apurba Banerjee, Officer in-charge of Singur police station P Bakshi, Dilu Manna, Keshto Barik, Prasanta Sadhukhan, Bhanu Hambir and Saila Sahana.

The charred body of the 18-year-old Tapasi, an activist of the anti-land acquisition movement, was found inside the project area of Tata Motors.

The Trinamool Congress had alleged that Tapasi was raped and killed by CPI(M) men who wanted to settle a score for her involvement in the movement against the small car project.

Notices served upon Malegaon blasts accused

Nashik, Oct 18: In a process to declare three of the accused in last year's September 8 Malegaon blasts as absconders, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has served notices upon the trio to present themselves before the court.
