Mysore, July 4: The City of Palaces, which had produced legendaryMusicians like Veena Sheshanna, Doreswamy Iyengar and T Chowdaiah,would soon have Music University.
Disclosing this to newsmen, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B SYediyurappa said that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would layfoundation stone for the university during First week of August.
He said that Rs five crore has already been allocated for theestablishment of the university and asked the concerned Department toprepare a project report for Rs 10 Crore.
Study Chair in the name of musicians late P Kalinga Rao and MysoreAnanthaswamy would be set up in the University at a cost of Rs 50 lakhseach, he added.
Mr Yediyurappa said that Music College would be established atDharwad, the home town of renowned Hindustani vocalist Gangubai Hangal.
