Visakhapatnam, July 2: The rural police today arrested trader Anand Agarwal in the city and seized semi-precious stones weighing five kg.

Asst Superintendent of Police T K Rana said the police was conducting a routine check in the agency areas, a hub of business in precious stones.

The trader was arrested when he was coming in a vechicle from the agency area, he said.

Two train accidents averted in AP

Tirupati, Jan 13: Two train accidents were averted in Andhra Pradesh with dutiful employees detecting cracks on the track. Railway sources said Rayalaseema Express was detained after a crack was detected on the track between Tirupati and Renugunta stations here today. Many other trains in the sector suffered detention. Similarly, the Secunderabad-bound Janmabhoomi Express suffered a detention after cracks developed on the track, near Pithapuram between Samalkot-Visakhapatnam section.
