Mumbai, Jun 29: Mumbai Mayor Dr Shubha Raul today said the BMC and the state government should join hands in implementing the plastic ban in the city.
''The ban on plastic should be implemented by the state government, as the BMC can only fine the shop keepers and the users of plastic'', the mayor said.
Speaking on the inauguration of the adoption programme of the BMC to ban plastic bags, Raul said the BMC is working on constructing a plastic road using the plastic seized by the BMC.
She said the public should stop using plastic bags that are thinner than 50 microns, and she will write to the chief minister to implement total ban on plastic.
