Mumbai, June 21 (UNI) Two cases of chain snatching were reported from the eastern suburbs of the metropolis during the last 24 hours.
Police said a ''Mangalsutra'', worth Rs 50,000, was snatched away from Sahili Laxman Sawant (38) by motorcycle-borne miscreants at Tilak Nagar here yesterday.
Another incident of ''Mangalsutra'' snatching was reported from Chembur. Sita Laxman Krishna (44) was walking towards the railway station when again motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched away her ''mangalsutra'', valued at around Rs 15,000.
A spate of robberies has troubled the eastern suburbs over the past two days. A jewellery shop was looted in broad daylight by four unidentified persons yesterday, while the residence of a senior citizen was attacked and looted Tuesday last.
