Grenade attack kills four in Somalia

Mogadishu, June 15: A grenade attack killed four people and wounded six others watching a video in the western Somali town of Baidoa, residents said today.

''The hand grenade was thrown at a video show in Baidoa late last night,'' said resident Mohamed Ali. ''Four people died and six were wounded. The video show was full of people watching an Indian movie at the time.''

Mogadishu, Aug 19: At least 16 people were killed and 30 others wounded today in a fierce gun battle between rival clans in central Somalia, witnesses said. The violence erupted hours after the deputy governor of the Somali capital survived an assassination attempt as his car hit a remote-controlled landmine planted by suspected insurgents. Witnesses said the fighting in the remote village of Goobo was linked to a blood feud between rival clans in the fractious Horn of Africa nation. It.....

Indian Navy seeks entry into Somali waters

New Delhi, Aug 29: Indian Navy has sent a proposal to the Government of India of having regular patrols in the Somalia coast inn the wake of recent hijacks of ships there and the threat to shipping line. This will be on the line of US naval patrols, which is now stationed there. The letter was written to the govt after pirates took over a cargo ship, 'Iran Deynat' in Somalia on August 21. There were total 24 people in the ship.....
