'Zoram National Bank' in making

Aizawl, June 13 (UNI) The North-East Region Finance Services Ltd (NEREFS) is all set to be known throughout the country as 'Zoram National Bank'.

''Even though NEREFS had been qualified by RBI to be a nationalised bank, I have rejected the offer to give some more time for more consolidated establishment,'' said Executive Director Ms Lalremsiami.

''By the time it becomes one of the nationalised banks, NEREFS will be known as Zoram National Bank,'' added Ms Lalremsiami at the opening of NEREFS new office here last evening.

Founded by Ms Lalremsiami, her husband and Managing Director James Lalrawngbawla, NEREFS' five branches are in Arunachal Pradesh, two each in New Delhi, Mizoram Kolasib and Aizawl and one each in Dehradun, Nainital, Guwahati, Shillong, Imphal and Churachandpur.

Colombo, Mar 15: Openly showing its interests in the potential oil and gas deposits in the war-ravaged Sri Lanka, the US has awarded a grant of Rs 51 million (474,000 dollars) to the Sri Lankan government to ''promote the energy security'' in the island nation.''The grant will fund technical assistance to the Ministry of Petroleum and Petroleum Resources Development in support of its efforts to develop a comprehensive oil and gas regulatory system and establish an organisational structure for the regulatory.....
