'Phool Banglas' for deities

Ayodhya, June 8 (UNI) To save the deities from blistering heat and soaring temperature, Ayodhya's temples are being adorned with refreshning flowers.

''The purpose behind the floral decoration, popularly known as 'Phool Banglas', is to give cooling affect in the roasting heat,'' Hanuman Gadi temple saint Baba Gyandas today told UNI today.

The custom of providing soothing shelter to the deities was started by Late Baba Ram Lagan Das and is being followed even today.

Hanuman Gadi, Kanak Bhawan, Maniram Chawni, Rangmahal, Bada Sthan, Nageshwar Nath and all other temples are tastefully done up on different 'tithis' (dates) as per as the solar calendar.

Quintals of flowers are required for the purpose, of which few are arranged locally, whereas rest is imported.

The decoration is gathering attension of the tourists, hence, tight security cover has been initiated, Baba said.

Gold surprisingly gets harder, not softer, when scientists heat it up

Washington, January 23 (ANI): While heating is generally known to cause any article to become softer, University of Toronto researchers have shown exactly the opposite effect on gold."It is counter-intuitive but the gold got harder instead of softer," says Chemistry and Physics professor R.J. Dwayne Miller."Can you imagine a blacksmith heating up gold to pound it thinner, only to find it got harder? But we heated the gold at terrific heating rates - greater than 1 billion million.....
