New power tarrif on anvil

New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) Delhi will soon have a new power tarrif, according to sources.

The officials of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) said the Delhi Government is mulling notifying regulations for the multi-year tarrif (MYT) before long. The MYT concerns power tarrif for a fixed period.

Once the notification has been issued, the distcoms will have to submit the Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) for the DERC to determine the tarrif, the officials added.

Kathmandu, Dec 30: Nepal's premier should not be given unlimited power as that could make him dictatorial, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said and called for a more equitable sharing of authority in the interim administration. Koirala's comments, made late yesterday, came two weeks after the government and the Maoist rebels finalised the draft of an interim constitution which allows the prime minister to exercise powers of the head of state earlier enjoyed by King.....

2006 eventful year for Congress in Puducherry

Puducherry, Dec 29: The year 2006 was an eventful one with the Congress coming back to power for a second sucessive term, though with a reduced strength. The year also witnessed the long overdue local body elections in the Union Territory and the downfall of a minister within six months of assuming office. Assembly elections were held in the Union Territory in two phases on May 3 and 8. Congress could win only ten.....
